Strengthening Apprenticeship Pathways in Western Canada

The Educational Partnership Foundation (TEPF) is dedicated to helping young Canadians explore, prepare for, and succeed in careers within the skilled trades. Through strong collaboration with training providers, school partners, and funding organizations, we are expanding access to high‑quality apprenticeship pathways across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.

Our Trades Careers program provides opportunities for learners in high school to gain hands‑on experience, build confidence, and take their first steps along apprenticeship pathway toward certification in Red Seal trades.

About the Project

Project Location(s): Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan

This multi‑year initiative focuses on strengthening apprenticeship readiness and completion by improving training pathways, expanding outreach, and reducing barriers for participants. Working closely with training partners and school communities, we aim to create inclusive, supportive environments that help students thrive.

The project places particular emphasis on supporting women, Indigenous learners, and other equity‑deserving groups who are underrepresented in the skilled trades. By improving access to resources and strengthening collaboration across regions, we are helping more young people pursue rewarding careers in high‑demand sectors.

• Increase participation in apprenticeship pathways and reduce apprenticeship entry age
• Strengthen the capacity of training and school partners to support apprentices, including those from equity‑deserving groups
• Create a local work-ready workforce
• Build a strong safety culture
