Celebrating Literacy and Community at Patrick Airlie School

Patrick Airlie School was buzzing with excitement on April 22nd as students welcomed some very special guests who share our passion for reading. Calgary Stampeders stars Jaylen Philpot and Aaron Crawford—along with the always‑iconic Ralph the Dog—joined the school for a celebration of literacy that students won’t soon forget.

This memorable event was made possible through the generosity of the Linda Putnam Legacy Fund at Calgary Foundation, whose support ensured that every student went home with a brand‑new book to enjoy. Students also received a set of Calgary Stampeders–themed Reading…Give It a Shot! literacy collector cards, which they will earn as they log their reading minutes throughout the year. The excitement around earning and trading these cards was immediate and contagious.

The Educational Partnership Foundation (TEPF) is grateful to members of the Calgary Police Service, who joined us to help distribute books and cheer on young readers. Their presence added to the sense of community and partnership that made the day so meaningful.

Moments like this remind us of the power of collaboration. When schools, community organizations, and local leaders come together, we create opportunities that inspire students to see themselves as readers, learners, and future leaders.

At TEPF, we’re proud to support schools like Patrick Airlie in building a culture where literacy is celebrated—and where every child feels supported on their learning journey.
