Today January 25 is Bell Let’s Talk Day. Mental illness does not discriminate; one in five Canadian children who need mental health support, receive the help they need, but five out of five are affected by it. By joining the conversation, we can help end the stigma. Here are five simple ways you can help: pay attention to the language you use around mental illness, learn and understand the signs, be kind in your day-to-day interactions, listen and be a shoulder to lean on, and have the conversation; we can start the dialogue in our homes and in our offices, with our friends and our colleagues, with people we know and people we can get to know through our conversation about mental illness. It is a huge benefit for today’s young people to know that someone cares and understands.
